Zi Gei Jau®Sing Si Fung (a.k.a. The LionDance Envelope)
A Zi Gei Jau® Project

一,始終利是封是它的主要角色,所以此形態下必須乾淨整潔。正面是一個完整畫面,沒有任何額外結構或零碎。為了鮮明突出主題,採用文字與圖案對半分配的構圖佈局;
Gwong Gu Fung and Lei Si Fung have been hit items in Lunar New Year by Zi Gei Jau® for over 3 years, it's time to have a new design!
Fortunately, we can think more and do more on our own projects. In addition to the traditional culture, we tried to create new experiences and give more meaning of the new design, with our ability of product design, not just stay in a graphic. Since the I Love Canton Lunar New Year project last year, we started to focus on the extended value of red envelope which will not be discarded after use. At the same time, we also hope that the custom of Red Envelope will not just stay at the meaning of money today.
We imagined a picture before the design:
The elder gave his juniors a red envelope, then the junior made the envelope as a blessing gift and return to the elder. It could be a Chinese Southern Lion from Lion Dance.
After proposing this idea to our good partners of GZNF.net, they agree it immediately and have it more detailed with their strengths on discovering the traditional culture, then found an intersection between the Lion Dance and the meaning of blessing:
The tradition of Lion dance originated from the opening of the Silk Road. The Chinese regarded the lions of the Western Regions as the auspicious animals. Whenever the festive season, there were performers dressed as mighty lions to drive away the evils and disasters, thus got the gracious name "Dancing Lion". The southern lion is based on the characters from Shu Han in the Three Kingdoms period as a symbol of benevolence, loyalty, braveness, wisdom, respect and filial piety.
Focusing on these allusions and based on the original intention to extract the meaning of the Lunar New Year, derived as six typical Cantonese blessing words: Prestige, Rich, Strong, Smart, Gorgeous and Healthy.
This new design is named Sing Si Fung (a.k.a. The Lion Dance Envelope). After the money is taken out, the envelope can transform into a lion head as the blessing gift in return. We left the eyeball blank and let the users draw it with their own hand (it's a special step for Lion Dance).
The design needs to be balanced in both forms:
First, it is essentially a red envelope, it must be clean and tidy in the envelope form. There is a complete picture on the front side, without any extra structure or piece. In order to highlight the theme, the layout of the content is divided in half by the title and the pattern.
Secondly, the lion structures are all arranged on the back side and finished in dotted lines. The experience of transformation should be affected by the process. At the same time, it is also avoided bringing additional issues especially the dotted lines separated in mass production.
A tiny value-added idea can bring more meaning to the custom. Hope the Sing Si Fung not only achieved our initial expectations, but also lead the Zi Gei Jau® to a deeper level of the Cantonese traditional culture area.
