石灣，作為中國南方陶瓷藝術重鎮，其陶塑藝術傳承中國傳統雕塑的精髓，是中國雕塑的重要代表之一，也是嶺南文化的亮麗符號。石灣陶塑以樸拙傳神的造型、豐富的釉色及高度寫實的手法著稱，並通過適度的藝術誇張表現生活趣味，於國內外享有盛譽。為弘揚這一傳統藝術，中國陶瓷工業協會與廣東石灣陶瓷博物館聯合舉辦首屆「美陶灣盃」中國傳統陶瓷雕塑大賽，以「樸拙傳神」為主題，徵集與傳統文化相關的陶瓷雕塑作品。
我們受廣東石灣陶瓷博物館委託，負責本次大賽的視覺形象設計和展覽設計工作，旨在通過創新的視覺語言傳遞石灣陶塑的藝術特質與大賽主題。
為凸顯石灣陶塑的藝術特色，我們深入分析了其作品的核心特質，著重於人物的動態、傳神的表情以及肢體細節的刻畫，這些都是石灣陶塑在藝術表達上的重要元素。基於這些特徵，我們選取了一系列經典的石灣公仔形象作為視覺設計的基礎，這些經典形象不僅承載了石灣陶塑的傳統美學，也表達了濃厚的生活趣味。
然而，單純再現傳統並不能完全體現大賽的精神，我們需要在設計中加入現代風格，以寓意是次大賽為傳統手藝不斷尋找新的血脈，延續出新生，既立足傳統又放眼當代。因此，我們沒有直接複製石灣陶塑的細節，而是進行風格化的重構。我們將人物的動態和神韻用簡練的線條和鮮明的色塊來表達，採用速寫和簡筆畫的風格進行再創作，既保留了石灣陶塑的原始風味，又賦予其現代感。
多層次的線條交疊與鮮明的色彩對比，使人物形象更具動感與層次感，帶出「神似」的效果，更放大了其大器與俏皮的特質，讓觀者在簡約的視覺語言中仍能感受到人物的傳神之處。我們希望通過這種設計風格，將石灣陶塑的「樸拙」與「傳神」以更當代的方式詮釋出來，寓意傳統藝術在時代的變遷中不斷融入新元素，延續創新精神。此設計既能與其他陶瓷比賽形成視覺上的差異，也強調了本次大賽在傳統與現代之間的銜接與融合，呈現出既尊重傳統又富於未來感的藝術形象象。
We have been commissioned by the Guangdong Shiwan Ceramics Museum to undertake the visual identity design and exhibition design for this competition. Through a deep understanding of Shiwan ceramics, we have identified that its key differentiators from other regions are the dynamic poses, expressive faces, and detailed depiction of hands and limbs in its works.
To better highlight the professional direction of this competition, we selected a series of classic Shiwan figurines as the basis for our visual design. These works fully showcase the unique charm of Shiwan ceramics in capturing dynamic poses and expressions. However, simply reproducing tradition does not fully embody the spirit of the competition. We needed to incorporate modern styles into the design, symbolizing the competition's goal of continuously seeking new blood for traditional craftsmanship, extending its vitality, and balancing tradition with contemporary perspectives.
Therefore, instead of directly replicating the details of Shiwan ceramics, we reconstructed the style. We used concise lines and vibrant color blocks to express the dynamic and spirit of the figures, adopting a sketch and simple drawing style for re-creation. This approach retains the original flavor of Shiwan ceramics while adding a modern touch.
The overlapping layers of lines and contrasting colors give the figures a sense of movement and depth, creating a "spiritual resemblance" that amplifies their grandeur and playfulness. Through this design style, we aim to reinterpret the "rustic" and "expressive" qualities of Shiwan ceramics in a more contemporary manner, signifying the integration of new elements into traditional art amidst changing times and the continuation of its innovative spirit. This design not only creates a visual distinction from other ceramic competitions but also emphasizes the connection and fusion between tradition and modernity, presenting an artistic image that respects tradition while being forward-looking.
除了視覺設計，整個大賽的所有物料、細至證書獎狀、大至展場指引及物料鋪排，都是是次委託的任務。
In addition to the visual design, our responsibilities for this commission include all competition materials, from certificates and awards to exhibition guidelines and material arrangements.
